After rolling out iOS 17 beta 2 at WWDC 2023, Apple is now releasing the operating system’s beta 2 update to developers. Similar to all software releases, this one comes with many tweaks and features like upgrades to the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps. Here’s everything new coming with the iOS 17 beta 2.
Readers must note that the update is available only to those who have enrolled in the Apple Developer Program.
The iOS 17 beta 2 brings changes to the update screen which will now show more information about the software. It now shows details about joining a beta program and backing up data before installing the update. Users will notice a refreshed Software Update settings page along with more prominent Update Now and Update Tonight buttons.
Apple iOS 17 focuses more on Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps. The iOS 17 beta 2 now shares a tip with the Messages app about sending a message by talking instead of typing with Siri. Similarly, while using the AirDrop feature, users will see a suggestion to hold the phone near another phone if they are unable to see people nearby.
There are some changes coming to the Location Settings on IPhones with IOS 17 beta 2. There is a new “MicroLocation” option in the Systems Settings section of the Location privacy options. Also, the App Clips Location Confirmation and Standby Clock have disappeared as an option.
Apple iOS 17 beta 2 adds more Apple Music widgets in different size options. Further, there is a new option to toggle off notifications when in StandBy mode. As stated in a report by Macrumours, notifications classified as “Critical” will be delivered even when the feature is off.
In addition, Apple has changed the wording of the data options for the Check-In feature in the Messages section of the Settings app. Options are now marked as “Full” and “Limited,” rather than “Current location only” and “All locations visited.”
