Brisbane customer’s cheeky note for

A frustrated shopper took matters into their own hands after they failed to receive their package — and it appears they’re not alone in the act.

We’ve all been there at some point — having a courier or postie fail to drop something off, even though you’re actually home.

One frustrated shopper, who had been waiting to receive their package, decided to take matters into their own hands by leaving a cheeky note out the front of their Brisbane home.

“Aus Post Deliverer: I am home,” the note read.

The customer took a snap of their typed letter and shared it on the Australia Post Complaints Facebook page on Monday — and it appears they’re not alone in the act.

It has since clocked hundreds of ‘likes’ and comments from fellow shoppers sharing similar experiences.

“I have similar note on my front door and have had for 12 months now and yet the only ppl that actually knock is DHL!” one Facebook user wrote.

“I have tried this by sticking a note on my mailbox, and still received a ‘we missed you’ card’,” another claimed.

“I do that too! I place it over the letterbox slot so they can’t put a card in! I can’t believe we have to do this,” said a third.

The note has since sparked a heated debate with some saying it is not the posties fault and blamed “poor practices”.

“It is not the delivery persons who are responsible from this type of behaviour. The fish stinks from the head,” one person said.

“Watched an auspost driver today get out of a van walk up and drop the item at front door and left didn’t even bother knocking,” claimed another.

However, the note was a success with the shopper later sharing a snap that showed a courier delivering their parcel to the front door.

“He delivered it and did not leave a card,” they wrote in the comments section alongside the image.

In a statement provided to, an Australia Post spokesperson said despite challenging circumstances, its staff are “working harder than ever to deliver record volumes of parcels”.

”Our posties and drivers are instructed to knock at the door three times and call out before leaving a card or safe-dropping a parcel,” the spokesperson said.

“We regularly remind our people of our policies, and what we expect of them to ensure our customers receive a great service.

“Sometimes however, our people will leave a card without knocking because of access or safety issues — such as an off-leash dog — and this could happen even when a customer is home.”

To keep track of deliveries, customers are encouraged to download the Australia Post Mobile App, which provides an option to have parcels left in a safe place.
