The maximum hiring is expected for IT roles, given the demand for tech skills, as per the jobsite’s Hiring Outlook Survey that covered 1,400 recruiters from key industries. Other functional areas where significant hiring is anticipated during January-June 2023 are business development, marketing, HR and administration, and finance.
Ironically, IT is also the functional area expected to witness the maximum impact of hiring corrections, even as 4% of recruiters surveyed overall predicted layoffs/downsizing in their organisations during the first half of 2023.
Employees with 0-3 years of experience would bear the brunt of the layoffs with nearly 31% recruiters anticipating this while 20% recruiters said those with 12-plus years of experience would be affected.
Around 47% of the recruiters surveyed expect attrition rates of more than 15% in the first half of 2023, indicating that employees will continue to look out for new job opportunities.
