Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ seems to have ended the dry spell at the box office for Bollywood movies. At a point when biggies like ‘Runway 34’ and ‘Jersey’ failed to fetch big numbers, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ has scored Rs 54.50 crore nett on its first weekend, reports Boxofficeindia. The horror comedy has managed to perform well in all mass pockets. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ has set the highest opening record for Kartik Aaryan, with ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ (2019) and ‘Luka Chuppi’ (2019) earning in the range of Rs 32-33 crore. Apparently this entertainer has crossed the first week business of both these films.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ has collected good figures in the CI and West Bengal circuits. Monday has some good advance booking collection and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ could well be on its way to being declared as a blockbuster. However it remains to be seen how this flick will sustain in the upcoming weeks.
Directed by Anees Bazmee, this film is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ which released in 2007. Speaking about comparisons with the Priyadarshan directorial, Anees Bazmee had previously told ETimes, “I had just kept the basic thought line of horror-comedy in mind and the new cast has done justice to their roles which has kept the original essence intact. It is a proper blend of horror and comedy.”
