Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan slam perfume commercials; call it ‘shameful and insensitive’ | Hindi Movie News

Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra took to her social media to slam a perfume commercial for its absurd idea which allegedly promoted rape culture.

Replying to Richa Chadha’s tweet who too had called out the same commercial, Priyanka wrote, “Shameful and disgusting. How many levels of clearances did it take for this commercial to be green-lit. How many people thought this was ok? I’m so glad that it was called out and now the ministry has taken it down. Appalling!”

Earlier, the ‘Fukrey’ actress had penned a strong-worded note which read, “This ad is not an accident. To make an ad, a brand goes through several layers of decision-making. Creatives, script, agency, client, casting… DOES EVERYONE THINK RAPE IS A JOKE? Revelatory! This brand, the agency that made this ad need to be sued for the filth they’re serving.”

Hrithik also took to his Instagram stories, to call out the ad. “How could the entire team associated with this project think this was OK to make and showcase?” the actor asked. He also added, “Kudos to the viewers for calling it out & the regulatory bodies for taking appropriate action,” the actor further said in his post.

Soon the Information and Broadcasting Ministry asked YouTube and Twitter to take down the advertisements from their social media platforms. They issued an official note where they mentioned the videos were “detrimental to the portrayal of women in the interest of decency and morality” and in violation of Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code).
