According to the Department of Posts circular dated October 26, 2023, “The option for opening of MIS, SCSS and MSSC schemes accounts is available under the ‘General Services’ tab of DOP Internet Banking of Post Office Savings Account Customers.”
Soon, the facility to close online banking accounts for the MIS, SCSS and MSSC schemes will be available.
How to open MIS, SCSS and MSSC online
Simple steps to open MIS, SCSS and ‘MSSC accounts
Step 1: Click on ‘General Services’ Tab
Step 2: Click on ‘Service Requests’
Step 3: Select ‘New Requests’ & Click on ‘Ok’
Step 3: Click on ‘MIS Accounts – Open a MIS Account’ or ‘MSSC Accounts – Open a MSSC Account’ or ‘SCSS Accounts – Open a SCSS Account’ .
Step 4: Enter the Deposit Amount (Amount should be as prescribed in the scheme rules).
Step 5: Select the Debit Account (linked PO Saving Account).
Step 6: Enter the ‘Transaction Remarks’ if necessary.
Step 7: Select the check box to agree to terms and conditions (Conditions may be read by clicking on the link ‘Click here’.
Step 8: Click on ‘Submit online’.
Step 9: Enter the ‘Remark’ if additional detail is required.
Step 10: Enter the ‘Transaction Password’ .
Step 11: Click on ‘Submit’ (Account will be opened if all the conditions are fulfilled) . View Download Deposit Receipt.
- The newly opened account will appear in the Accounts summary a few minutes later, following a re-login to Internet Banking.
- Single account type can only be opened. An account will be opened in the name of DOP Internet Banking user and nominee(s) available in linked Savings Account will be registered as nominee for the newly opened MISiSCSSA4SSC account.
- SCSS account can be opened only by the depositors whose age is 60 or above. Persons who are eligible to open SCSS account below 60 years of age have to visit the post offices for opening the SCSS account.
Accordingly, now DOP Internet Banking users can open all schemes’ accounts online except Post Office Savings Account (POSA) and Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA) and close the following schemes’ accounts.
